My teaching and research focus on the design and life of neighborhood civic landscapes--schoolgrounds, parks, street networks, community gardens, community centers-- as ecologically and culturally diverse places for children's everyday experiences. I am interested in meaningful ways to engage children and youth in design processes that enable mutual learning, to shape and care for places.
